The annual July cutting horse competition is going on, and what a spectacle it is! For those wanna-be cowboys among you, come and rub elbows with the real thing. All happening this week at the Mebane Ranch in Ft. Klamath, Oregon, just 5 miles south of Crater Lake National Park.
What is a cutting competition? Cutting horses are highly specialized at “cutting” or separating cows from a small herd in an arena. Horse and rider are judged together on time and style. Many different classes exist within the competition, which runs all this week.
The BIG cutting show is the last part of August, so make your reservations early and plan to spend some time watching some of the Old West come alive!
